BIOGRAPHY

Austin Palmer-Smith Artist
Austin was born in Paris in 1977 and raised in New York City until he left to attend the University of California at Santa Barbara. After completing his undergraduate studies he travelled and painted throughout Europe and North Africa before returning to New York. Upon his return he began painting mural commissions in collaboration with his father. Working for the top interior designers in New York they produced paintings for public buildings, restaurants and private homes in New York, Los Angeles and Palm Beach.

Austin is developing a new body of work that he describes as hunting paintings. In his own words, "An eskimo shaman said that the most dangerous thing facing mankind is that his diet consists entirely of souls. I draw inspiration from nature, human nature on the streets of New York City, and old hunting books. These are hunting paintings, giving prayer to this inherently violent world we have been born into. I am hunting for simplicity in painterly expression, for spiritual revelation, and for the viewers imagination
